History

The first section of land designated as a cemetery was established on 22 May 1889, followed by a second section on 28 August 1911. However, there are recorded burials that predate these dates. The exact timing of the first burial is unknown, but the earliest markers belong to William Harden and his daughter Ella M. Bennett, who passed away in 1886 and 1881, respectively. Fairview Cemetery, encompassing 12 acres of land, is under perpetual care, a guarantee of its well-maintained state, and a testament to the respect and care shown to the deceased.

The Rockford Cemetery Improvement Association manages Fairview Cemetery, a testament to our community’s dedication to preserving our history. Its board consists of several local volunteer members. You can contact the Association by mail at PO Box 63, Rockford, WA 99030.
