To reach the cemetery from Thornton, WA, drive south on Hwy 195. When you arrive at Steptoe, turn left (east) onto Scholz Rd and continue for 0.3 miles. On a hillside, you will see the cemetery on the left side of the road. The town of Steptoe is located just north of the intersection of Hwy 23 and Hwy 195.

History

This cemetery was established in 1882, although county courthouse records indicate it was officially recorded on 21 June 1884. It encompasses 3 acres and is maintained as an endowment care cemetery by the Bethel Cemetery Association in Steptoe, WA. Many visitors have noted that it is in excellent condition. Notably, Michael Edward Lowry, who served as the 20th Governor of Washington from 1993 to 1997, is buried here.
