History
The Colfax Cemetery was established on September 11, 1882, as the official cemetery for the City of Colfax. It is owned and operated by the Whitman County Cemetery District #6. The cemetery is well-maintained and continues to be in use today. The first expansion occurred on July 7, 1905. Initially, the cemetery was located only in Section 11, but it has since been expanded to include several additional sections, now covering parts of Sections 11 and 12. In 1926, a wildland fire destroyed the wooden tombstones and the cabin where the cemetery records were stored.
