Deer Park was officially incorporated 113 years ago on June 24, 1908. Deer Park got its name when railroad surveyors saw deer grazing in the area. It was settled in 1889 when a railroad siding was built for the Spokane Falls & Northern Railway.

A great deal of credit goes to W. H. Short for making it possible. There were 500 shares to start with and Mr. Short held 496.
Founded in 1888, Woodland Cemetery was handed to the City of Deer Park between 1910-1916. Between 1926-1934, the Deer Park Woodland Cemetery Association took over the administration, between 2005-2012 when the cemetery land was deeded again back to the City of Deer Park.
The Deer Park Woodland Cemetery has incorporated several graves from the local cemeteries. Notably, one was done by the Deer Park Catholic Cemetery between 1993-1998. After relocation, they erected a memorial with a list of names of the deceased whose graves were moved.
There is a large, central pavilion where interment ceremonies are held.
