Notes from transcriber Maggie Rail, Aug 24, 1999, last edited Jan 14, 2012:
“It is located partially on Half Moon Prairie and partly on Wild Rose Prairie, about 10 miles north of the city of Spokane. You will find it on the north side of Half Moon Prairie Road ½ mile west of Hwy 395.”
“Wayside Cemetery was established in 1896 under the auspices of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. As years went by, no one was caring for the cemetery. As a result in 1997, the Wayside Association was established. This cemetery has also been known as the IOOF Cemetery and Morning Star Cemetery.”
“It was evident that this cemetery is being renewed. There was a new fence around part of it. In places there were new headstones being installed to replace old ones. While not a perpetual care cemetery, but most families are keeping their plots cleaned out.”
“I walked and read this cemetery first on May 05, 1999, later I walked it again using my digital camera May 23, 2003. I have also compared my work with Rural Spokane County cemeteries, Vol 1, pub. 1961 by EWGS and sexton files. If I found differences I went with the headstone reading.”
