Fort Spokane, Lincoln County, Washington
The Frans Cemetery is located in Northern Lincoln County 17 miles north of Davenport on Highway 25, and through private property. Access is through farmed and/or pastured ground, for access, contact Dean Reinbold of Davenport.
The cemetery is located in the SW1/4 Sec2 T27N R36E, and is less than 1/2 mile through the field, on a hillside in pine trees, although barely visable from the highway. It shows the evidence of no care for many years, but a group is now becoming active.
The listing gives the location of the stones at the end of each listing. They are numbered, beginning at the southwest corner of the cemetery, near the fence on the uphill side. A few names are given who have no headstone. They are of those whose burial in Frans Cemetery has been recorded in other manners.
One known soldier is buried there, a veteran of the Spanish American War. The first burial was in 1883, the last in 1955. The oldest birth date shown is 1812.
Frans Cemetery is up on a hill among the wheat fields of Eastern Washington. Not many people come this way since to get here, one must hike in. Many of the markers are hidden by over-grown shrubs and weeds, but interest is beginning in its care.
