| Obit/Notes | -- Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Tuesday, May 8, 1928, page 14, column A CASHNER RITES ARE TOMORROW [photo] John Cashner, pioneer plainsman, buffalo hunter and Civil War veteran, will be buried tomorrow following funeral services at the Green Lake Methodist Church at 2 p.m. He died Sunday at his home, 2110 North Seventy-seventh Street, ending a residence in Seattle of twenty-one years. Back in the 70s Cashner hunted buffalo with the famous Buffalo Bill. In 1875 he moved to Spearfish, in the South Dakota Black Hills, and was appointed the first postmaster of the village. He was a personal friend of Theodore Roosevelt in the frontier days. He was a member of Stevens Post, G. A. R. and a Mason. He was eighty-six. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Green Lake Methodist Church, No. 65th and 1st N.E. Interment Evergreen Park. Georgetown Undertaking Co., funeral directors. |
