VETERAN OF CIVIL WAR DIES HERE
William F. Urban, Resident of Seattle for 23 Years, Taken by Death

William F. Urban, a Civil War veteran and a resident of Seattle for the past twenty-three years, died at his residence, 456 Maple Leaf Place, at a late hour Friday night. He was eighty-three years of age.
Urban was born in Germany. He came to the United States sixty-five years ago settling first in Wisconsin. At the outbreak of the Civil War he enlisted in the Twenty-second Wisconsin Volunteers, and served throughout the war. He was wounded twice, being captured once after he had been shot down, and was confined for several months in Libby Prison.
Twenty-three years ago he moved to Seattle, settling near the northern limits of the city. He was a member of the G. A. R. Post at Green Lake and of the Green Lake Methodist Church.
Surviving relatives include his widow, Mrs. Ottilee Urban; five sons, Charles of Redmond, Or., William of Pocatello, Idaho; Frank of Tacoma, and Lewis and Edward of Seattle, and two daughters, Mrs. Emma Jarvis and Mrs. Agnes Green, both of Seattle.
