The 1st Louisiana Regiment New Orleans Infantry was a regiment in the Union Army during the American Civil War.[1]
The Regiment was organized in New Orleans, Louisiana, on March 6, 1864, and was on garrison and guard duty in the New Orleans defenses. The unit mustered out in May 1866.

CIVIL WAR VETERAN WIDOW
Ada Saunders was the daughter of Sidney and Helen (Edwards) Topping. She was born in Sagaponack, Long Island, New York.
She married Abitha Saunders on October 18, 1899 in East Islip, Long Island, New York. She was the mother of two children: Mrs. Katherine Ouder of New Orleans, Louisiana and Sidney Saunders of Wenatchee, Wasington.
She was admitted to the Washington Veterans' Home on March 8, 1918. She and her husband had been member of the State Soldiers' Home in Orting. She was awarded a widows' pension on Certificate No. 897,499.
She passed away on October 11, 1942 at Retsil the age of 79 years.
