He was the son of Lawrence and Hannah Van Winkle Thorn.
He used the "e" at the end.

I come from he and his 1st wife, Jennie Magill. They were married in Sadsbury Twp., Crawford Co., PA on Feb. 14, 1866. They had 3 children: Frank Edwin, Florence Ruth and Gertrude, my grandmother.

Jennie divorced him Jun 3, 1886 in Grand rapids, Michigan.

2nd wife - Lulu Carrie Ingersoll Thorne, b. June 8, 1868, Buchanan, MI, daug. of Monroe & Mary Josephine Conklin Ingersoll, died Mar. 11, 1941, Seattle, King Co., WA.

They were married Jan. 1, 1887 in Grand Rapids, MI.
They had 8 children: Fred Lawrence, Mary Edwina, Charles/Charley Monroe, Mabel Josephine, Grace D., Carrie Helen, Maude Ethel/Helen M., Robert Ingersoll.
