Memorial ID
Civil War veteran, Musician, Company B, 31st Maine Infantry. Following the war, he was a member of Washington's soldiers' home at Orting and Retsil. However, he succumbed to the ravages of age and was committed to Northern State Hospital, where he died after three months. He received a Federal pension for his war service. In addition to the Maine infantry, he also served in the United States Navy aboard the Ohio, Colorado, and Benton ships. It has been generally supposed that he was buried at the Sedro-Woolley city cemetery, but they have no record of him. It is possible he was cremated and returned to Northern State, and if so his burial site is undoubtedly lost to history.
