- Enlisted on 26 Mar 1864 as a Private, Company I, 45th Pennsylvania Infantry, but deserted from camp on 1 June 1865; perhaps he believed the war was over. He married Emma Arkwright in about 1878 and had a family. Washington's death records suggest he died at Northern State Hospital. His burial location has not been identified.
