- Civil War veteran, Company D, 50th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted as a Corporal on 19 Aug 1861 but was promoted to Lieutenant of the regiment on sight. He was promoted again to Captain on 9 Oct 1862. Following several years of combat, his unit was mustered out at Louisville, Kentucky on 13 Jul 1865. He did not claim his pension until 1908, under the age law. He married Florence F Meacham in Adams County, Illinois in May 1870. His travels took him west; in 1903 they were residents on Vashon Island, King County, Washington, and by 1913 they had crossed the sound to Bremerton. Rickart was the city treasurer of Bremerton in 1920. He died on his birthday and was cremated three days afterward. By the following spring, his widow had moved to California. The final resting place is not known.
