William C. Bishop was born in Indiana to Walker Bishop and Rachel Clark, and he married Susanna Delker on 10 Apr 1870 in Butler County, Iowa (Children: Frank, Carl, Lulu Cox, and Rose Johnson) He was 18 years of age and residing in Clarksville, Iowa when he enlisted. He was wounded on 9 Apr 1864 at Pleasant Hill, Louisiana. He was mustered out at Davenport, Iowa. Occupation: Farmer. He was a member of Alfred Sully Post No. 3 of Dayton, Columbia County, Washington. In 1891, he served as Post Commander. William was one of 6 children born to Rachael (Clark) and Walker Hampton Bishop. The family moved to Money Creek, Illinois when William was a young child, then to Butler, Iowa. He married Susanna Delker at Bulter on April 10, 1870. They settled in Nebraska for about a decade, but then went west to Columbia County, Washington in the 1880s. They were farmers. Other members of the extended Bishop family also settled in Columbia County, WA, during that time. He lived there until his death in 1914 at age 69. His wife Susanna preceded him in death in 1909. His children Frank Delker Bishop, Carl Bishop, Lula Bishop and Rosilla May Bishop survived him.
