Samuel Thomas Hanan (a.k.a. Samuel T. Hannan/Thomas Hanan) was born in Fulton County, Illinois; son of Samuel and Patsy Price Hanan. Married Martha Allphin on 12 Sep 1869 in Scotland, Missouri (previously married 2x to Jane Burrs and Hulda Lewis in Scotland, Missouri - both died before marriage to Martha Allphin. (See 1860, 1870, 1880, 1900 Census for names of children). Occupations: Farmer, Carpenter, Saddler and appointed U.S. Postmaster in 1858 in Scotland, Missouri. Samuel enlisted/mustered out at Fort Leavenworth (rank as Private, Sergeant and Saddler). He was a member of Alfred Sully Post No. 3 of Dayton, Columbia County, Washington.
