DEATH OF A VETERAN
William H. Perkins, a pioneer of this state, passed away at the Washington hospital this forenoon after several days illness with pneumonia.
The deceased is 67 years of age and was a veteran of the civil war, having enlisted at the first call in the Tenth Indiana volunteers.
Mr. Perkins' home is at Greenacres. He is survived by three sons, Charles A. and Thomas W. Perkins, both of this city, and by William M. Perkins, a resident of La Crosse.
The deceased has resided in this state for the past 18 years, the last eight of which were spent in the vicinity of Spokane.
The remains are at the Turnbull undertaking rooms, where funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Interment is to be made in Greenwood.

He was the son of Robert and Mrs. (Lyon) Perkins.
Family folklore bio - after the death of his 1st wife, Rebecca Ann Breckinridge Perkins, William left his 3 sons to be raised by their Breckinridge Grandparents in Kansas. WHHP left the saloon business in Kansas and headed west as a U.S. Marshall to round up deserters of the Civil War. Settling in the Dayton/Waitsburg, Washington area before moving to Spokane, Washington. All 3 sons came west to Washington when grown to reunite with their father. Nightstick and buttons from WHHP's uniform are in family possession, as well as photo.
