Born at Maine. A resident of Sugar Creek, Walworth County, Wisconsin when he enlisted. Mustered in at Madison, Wisconsin, 23 Aug 1862. Wounded in action at the Battle of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, 7 Dec 1862. Mustered out with the regiment at Galveston, Galveston County, Texas. He married Lucy Jane Wheeler about 1865. By 1870 he was a resident of Washington Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa where he worked as a laborer. By 1900 he relocated to Washington State, living at Lone Tree, Yakima County where he worked as a farm laborer. He settled at Prosser, Benton County, Washington before 1904 where he continued to work as a laborer. He was a charter member of Maj. Johnson Post No. 114 at Prosser, Washington, serving the post as Chaplain in 1904 and Commander in 1909. He died at Vancouver, Clark County, Washington after an accidental fall.
