Born at Scott, Columbia County, Pennsylvania. He married Mary C. Barton about 1848. He enlisted at Hancock, Delaware County, New York. Mustered in as a Sergeant 27 Sep 1862. Transferred to Company A, 12th Veterans Reserve Corps, 14 Sep 1863. Mustered out at Washington, D.C. By 1880 he was a resident of Manistee County, Michigan where he worked as a laborer. By 1888 he relocated to Humboldt County, California and by 1900 he was living with his son at The Dalles, Wasco County, Oregon. He settled at Prosser, Benton County, Washington before 1904. He was a charter member of Maj. Johnson Post No. 114 at Prosser, Washington. He died at Prosser, Washington.
