Born in Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan. Enlisted in the 10th Michigan Cavalry for three years at Meridian, Michigan. Mustered in as a Private in Company K on 8 Jun 1864. On 25 Sep 1864 joined his Regiment at Strawberry Plains, Tennessee. Missing in action at Sweetwater, Tennessee on 23 Oct 1864. Returned to his Regiment on 24 Apr 1865. Mustered out at Memphis, Tennessee. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Admitted to the Washington State Soldiers Home at Orting, Pierce County, Washington on 8 Sep 1909 where he died.
