Born in Champion, Jefferson County, New York. Enlisted in the 60th New York Infantry for three years at Hermon, St. Lawrence County, New York. Mustered in as a Private in Company A on 30 Oct 1861. Discharged for disability. Enlisted in the 14th New York Heavy Artillery for three years at Ogdensburg, St. Lawrence County, New York on 21 Jul 1863. Mustered in as a Private in Company A on 29 Aug 1863. Deserted at Rochester, Monroe County, New York on 3 Oct 1863. Both he and his widow Cordelia received a pension based on his service in the 60th New York Infantry. A member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. Died in Tacoma, Washington.
