Also known as Wishkah Cemetery, but it is important to note that there is another cemetery in Grays Harbor County currently referred to as “Wishkah Cemetery.” These are two distinct cemeteries.

Fern Hill Cemetery is located in the northeast part of Aberdeen, to the east of the Wishkah River.

History

The cemetery is a diverse resting place, with the earliest recorded burial being that of Joseph Schafer in 1879. It is the final resting place for more than 3,600 individuals across four sections, and it also houses a mausoleum and a war memorial. Notably, the cemetery is home to the graves of five famous individuals from different walks of life: Robert Arthur, Jacques “Jack” Fournier, John Baxter Kinne, Russell Vernon Mack, and Frederick Earl Steele.
