Death of a Pioneer
Levi O. Sargent died at his late residence in this city on Sunday, March 18, 1900, after an illness of eight months, with Bright's disease, aged 70 years and 3 months. The funeral took place under the auspices of the G. A. R., from his late residence Tuesday morning, Rev. A. H. Lackey, chaplain of the post, officiating.
Levi O. Sargent was born near Attica, Fountain County, Indiana, on December 19, 1829, and served in the civil war as lieutenant of Co. K, 113 Illinois Infantry, from 1862 to 1865. He came to Washington in 1882, settling in Olympia. In 1884 he came to Grays Harbor and engaged in the hotel business at Cosmopolis. Later he came to Aberdeen and built the hotel now known as the Pacific, and continued a resident of this city until his death. During his long illness, he was tenderly cared for by his bereaved wife, who was the partner of his joys and sorrows for so many years, and who survives to mourn his loss. Five children, Chas. C. Sargent and Mrs. Fred Perry, of this city; Mrs. Clara Abrams, of Iowa; Mrs. Mary Brittain of Hoquiam, and Mrs. O. Ingham, of Ballard, Wash., also survive to regret the taking off of a kind and indulgent father.
Through an oversight in the funeral arrangements, no notice of the time of the burial was given, to the regret of a number of friends who would have attended to pay the last mark of respect to an old friend and esteemed fellow citizen.

The small headstone on the right of the photo is Levi Sargent's. His wife Rebecka is buried beside him but has no headstone. Their son Walter is most likely buried in this location too but there are few cemetery records from that time period (before 1900) to locate the grave.
