Mt. Hope Cemetery in College Place

1892 Suncrest Terrace
College Place, Walla Walla County, Washington 99324
509-386-2929

This beautiful, well maintained cemetery is found by traveling on the main street of College Place, which is College Avenue. Turn west onto 6th Street going four of five blocks to the base of the hill where the road curves to the left and ascends the hill. As you reach the top of the hill the cemetery in on the right.

The cemetery is fenced and the older section to the east has large old trees. Mount Hope Cemetery was deemed to be established about 1892 as that is the oldest headstone found in the cemetery. It was originally owned by Walla Walla County but deeded about 1970 to the Seventh Day Adventist Church in College Place.

Thank you to the cemetery for graciously providing their records which we used as a reference with which to check the headstone information. Many of the months and days are not included on the headstones but come from the cemetery records as does the names of the deceased in parenthesis. The names of the next of kin are in parenthesis at the end of the line and if there is no surname typed there, then it is the same as the deceased. Some we found no headstones for, however they are not marked.
