Bellevue Sunset Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in King County was founded in 1883. In 1916 the cemetery was handed to the City of Bellevue.
The Bellevue Sunset Hills Memorial Park Cemetery’s management was under the City of Bellevue until 1934 when Bellevue Sunset Hills Memorial Park Cemetery Association took over after its formation. The association took over the administration until 2009 when the cemetery land was deeded again back to the City of Bellevue.
The Bellevue Sunset Hills Memorial Park Cemetery has incorporated several graves from the local cemeteries. One of the notable relocations of graves is one done by Bellevue Catholic Cemetery in 1998. After relocation, they erected a memorial with a list of names of the deceased whose graves were moved.
Bellevue Sunset Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Bellevue ranks number 1st out of the two cemeteries in Bellevue City in terms of popularity. Further, it ranks 7th out of 19 cemeteries in King County, 32th out of the 220 cemeteries in Washington State, and 2714 in the United States.
Sunset Hills Memorial Park offers a range of interment options for in-ground burial, as well as outdoor mausoleum complexes, columbaria, crypts, cremation niches and benches, private estates and semiprivate estates.
Sunset Hills Memorial Park is a peaceful place with beautiful views of downtown Seattle and the Olympic Mountains. Mature trees shade the cemetery’s 59 acres on hot summer days and produce magnificent displays of orange, gold and red leaves come fall. The well-landscaped cemetery also features lovely annual blooming flowers, gardens and several water features—all of which make wonderful spots for solitude.
