A Civil War soldier:
Benjamin fought for the Union as a Private with Company "F" of the 8th Ohio Cavalry Regiment.

On 11 October 1866, Benjamin married Annice Marie Palmer, the oldest daughter of Albert & Catherine (Strong) Palmer & a native of Perry (Township) in Jackson County, Iowa.

1870 Federal Census shows Benjamin & Annice living in rural Milford (Township) in Crawford County, Iowa. By 1880, they were living in Denison (Township) in Crawford County, Iowa and had an eight year old daughter, Maud.

1885 Washington Territorial Census shows Benjamin, Annice & Maud living in Thurston County. Sometime before 1887, they moved to Tacoma, WA — where they finished out their final years.
