Born in Pennsylvania. Enlisted in the 1st Maryland Infantry for three years at Baltimore, Maryland. Mustered in as a Private in Company B at Baltimore, Maryland on 30 Aug 1862. Promoted to Corporal on 18 Apr 1863. Promoted to Sergeant on 22 May 1864. Mustered out at Arlington Heights, Virginia. A charter member of Custer Post No. 6 of Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. On 11 Aug 1897 admitted to the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers at Sawtelle, Los Angeles County, California and discharged at his own request on 18 Jul 1898. Died in Tacoma, Washington.
