Grand View Cemetery was established on August 9, 1897, by German immigrants William and Ernestine Deutsch. The Deutsch family operated the cemetery until it was deeded to the City of Anacortes in 1945. The Parks and Recreation Department oversees its management and operations.

Anacortes Grandview Cemetery, in Skagit County, was founded in 1882 and handed to the City of Anacortes in 1912.

The City of Anacortes managed the Anacortes Grandview Cemetery until 1938, when the Anacortes Grandview Cemetery Association took over after its formation. The association took over the administration until 2010, when the cemetery land was deeded again to the City of Anacortes.

The Anacortes Grandview Cemetery has incorporated several graves from the local cemeteries. One notable relocation was done by Anacortes Catholic Cemetery in 1994. After the relocation, a memorial with a list of the names of the deceased whose graves were moved was erected.

Anacortes Grandview Cemetery in Anacortes ranks number 1st out of the two cemeteries in Anacortes City in terms of popularity. Further, it ranks 7th out of 17 cemeteries in Skagit County, 31st out of the 210 cemeteries in Washington State, and 2665th in the United States.
